LIMECO The History & Background:
LIMECO was established in 1994, by LEON COERTZE, in Phoenix Industrial Park just North of Durban CBD. LIMECO were appointed agent for CAPE LIME one of Southern Africa, biggest Lime producing companies. With just a handful of clients it was soon realized that the need to grow was imminent.
1996 LIMECO relocated to the BKB Complex in Jacobs. This location offered sufficient warehouse-space with good access to arterial routes. The premises also boasted their own railway sidings with easy access. By transporting our products by rail we reduced our costs significantly and became more competitive.
1997 LIMECO expanded their product range in the building sector. This allowed LIMECO to expand their customer base and also broaden their horizons even further. LIMECO were awarded the agency for one of the biggest tile adhesive manufacturers in South Africa, Ezee Tile. LIMECO was well on track and rapidly becoming a household name in the market.
1998 LIMECO secured a contract with Specialty Minerals SA for the supply of Imported Lime which led to the establishment of their sister company Bulkco. Through dedication and ongoing commitment LIMECO were also able to secure contracts with Umgeni Water, Isegen SA, Huntsmen Tioxide and eThekwini Municipality, to name but a few. With LIMECO on track in KwaZulu-Natal it was decided to broaden the horizon further and in the year 2000 established another company, Limeco Minerals, Apex, Benoni.
Since then all three companies showed constant growth. After years of leasing, it was time for LIMECO head office in Durban to acquire its own premises.
August 2008 LIMECO opened for business at their newly constructed premises in Amanzimtoti. The warehouse features an indoor loading facility which can handle both break bulk as well as containerized cargo all-year-round no matter the weather. The warehouse has a storage capacity of around 7000 tons.
After nearly two decades of successfully supplying lime to Umgeni Water, LIMECO received a certificate from Umgeni Water in recognition of outstanding performance and being a strategic partner.
2013 LIMECO established Limeco Western Cape and there are no signs of slowing down.
2015 LIMECO became the agent for Lhoist in South Africa, the biggest lime producer in the world with facilities in more than 100 countries. Which secured business with Impala Platinum and Enviroserv.
Due to the tremendous growth in sales achieved since becoming the agents for PB lime in KZN, LIMECO were appointed agents for the Eastern Cape region in 2016.
2017 LIMECO upgraded their loading facilities in order to keep up with the growing demand. In the same year CAPE LIME was bought over by AFRIMAT. LIMECO still remain the agent for CAPE LIME / AFRIMAT products.
2018 LIMECO really got stretched to their limits. With high-growth and demand, it was time to expand the warehouse, due for completion 2019
