With over 40 years' experience in the scale industry, we pride ourselves in being one of the leaders in our industry. Our Micro brand is quality assured and has a well-known presence in the whole of South Africa and neighbouring countries.
Scalerite was born in 1940, and was bought by our directors in 2002. We started off with only 5 employees in a 50 square metre building and then in 2011 we moved to our current premises, of 4000 square metres, in Benrose where major alterations were done.
We have always kept up to date with the change in technology and systems and have come from only having a product range which consisted of 5 scales, to now having 150 products. We have managed to introduce all social media platforms to our business as well as extensive marketing. We believe that keeping up to date with the changing times is the most valuable part of a company (the first, of course, being the customers).
We, at Scalerite, pride ourselves in having expert knowledge, with most of our employees having over 15 years’ experience in the scale industry. Scalerite not only sells weighing equipment to cover all industries, but repairs and maintains them too. Micro is our brand name, it has a well-known presence in the whole of South Africa and neighboring countries. Micro is known for its exceptional quality and affordable prices.

ACCREDITATIONS
By law, all weighing equipment used for buying and/or selling by weight must be verified at least once every two years. Scalerite maintains a SANAS Approved Verification Laboratory specifically to assist clients with this legal requirement. Please contact us for further information.

HIRING OF SCALES
We offer a variety of scales that can be hired out according to your needs;
Crane scales, platform scales, industrial scales and table top scales.

CALIBRATIONS
Scale calibration is essential to achieve accurate weighing results. The accuracy of balances and scales become less reliable over time, therefore they need to be calibrated on regular intervals. There are various factors that affect calibration accuracy:
- Usage
- Lifespan
- Environment
- ISO requirements
We offer calibrations done onsite or at our premises and we provide calibration reports with each calibration done.
MAINTENANCE & REPAIR
Weighing equipment requires ongoing support and maintenance to ensure that high level of accuracy and reliability is kept throughout the life of the scale. Maintaining your scale regularly will also prolong the life span of the scale.
We have highly skilled service technicians who will be able to do repairs and maintenance onsite or on our premises. We will be able to do repairs on most makes and models of scales and carry a wide range of spares on our premises.
We also offer telephonic technical support if you are not able to bring your scale in or are too far out for us to come to you.
SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENTS
We offer maintenance contracts which vary from 1 visit to 12 visits per year depending on your requirements.
We will assess your scales and provide a quotation on the scales that require repairs / maintenance.
We provide SLA's according to the ISO regulations. Calibrations will be supported by calibration reports or NRCS certificates. This is an extremely cost-effective solution
VERIFICATIONS
Legal verification certifies that your trade approved scales and balances are giving the correct results. SANAS verification certificates are issued after verification and are valid for a duration of 2 years. By law, all trade approved scales and balances must be verified for trade purposes as per the Legal Metrology Act (Act no 9 of 2014)
Verifications can be done on all scales up to 4000kg, provided they are type approved scales. The verifications will be accompanied by a NRCS verification certificate.
WHO NEEDS A VERIFIED SCALE?
All industries that trade* over a scale are required to have a verified scale.
*Trade includes:
The making, effecting or concluding of any contract, bargain, sale, purchase or transaction or any payment in connection therewith;
- any payment for services rendered;
- any measurement of a legal nature in connection with which any measuring instrument is used
