Union Engineering
Company Information

Founded in 1952, Union Engineering served primarily the Agricultural, Mining, Transport and Construction sectors by providing precision Milling, Welding and Sheet Metal Working services in and around Bloemfontein.

By focussing on work excellence and ethical conduct, Mr Geeringh (Sr.) propelled the business into the “big league” and the business expanded rapidly during the 1970’s and 80’s and started taking on  maintenance and structural repairs on earth moving equipment, trucks and other rolling stock.

When André joined his dad in the 1980’s, the company underwent a further growth phase when line  boring and other specialised major maintenance and rebuilding jobs on earth moving equipment were added to the range of services on offer.

More Information

The 1990’s brought with it a new set of challenges when “BEE” entered the lexicon of the day and as a purely “white” owned entity, Union Engineering faced huge challenges to retain market share. During this period Precision Engineering as service industry also underwent huge changes and with the demise of trading sanctions, the workshop was modernized with equipment imported from Germany and the UK so as to remain competitive and enhance the quality and levels of precision services offered.

The workshop modernisation and refitting necessitated a refocus on the business model and the last two decades saw the company branching out internationally into the SADC countries and, more importantly, into what has today become a separate business division – providing low operating cost particle separation and sizing of materials solutions through in-house developed and built, fit-for-purpose high frequency screens for the mining, farming and food preparation sectors.

PARTICLE SEPARATION

Particle separation through size differentiation as a science has seen enormous development and Union Engineering is at the forefront of this process with technology that energizes only the screen decks themselves to save energy.

PRECISION ENGINEERING

Union Engineering is uniquely positioned to provide solutions to all metal and steel working, finishing and fabrication requirements with state of the art welding, milling, machining, line-boring, lathing, bending and cutting equipment operated by our highly skilled and dedicated employees at our Bloemfontein workshop.

METAL FABRICATION

The pioneering work into material separation necessitated building additional capacity in terms of structural steel builds and fabrication and the Company now boasts the capacity to undertake structural plant construction in specifically the mining industry.

Products & Services
Union High Frequency Screens

Apart from our precision engineering, we put our main focus designing, building and delivering a high-quality particle separation screen for the mining, agriculture and food preparation industry.

The Union high frequency vibrating screen, low maintenance and a very low running cost and with a quick and easy rotary tension screen system changes, you have very little down time when changing mesh(sieves). With variable motor rpm increases efficiency and rates of stratification of medium for optimal production. fraction sizes vary from 105 microns up to 25mm

AGRICULTURE AND FOOD PREPERATION:

The Union High Frequency Vibrating screen (HFVS) uses vibration to put energy in the medium (grain) to separate the fines from the bigger medium and uses angle for the flow over the screen. Separating the fines and unwanted materials from you’re grain you’re not only upgrading you’re grain but can also use the fines for feed and save money.

The Union HFVS has a very low running cost (saves electricity) and even lower maintenance, it also saves you time with its quick and easy rotary tensioning system you change sieves in a couple of minutes and by only changing the sieves you can screen maize, soyabeans, sunflower, teff and other grains.

You can screen up to 100t/h (maize). The screens are built and designed to fit where you want it and can also be made in a mobile unit you can use next to your fields. Trusted companies like NWK, Silostrat , BKB and Silkstart are happy users of the Union HFVS.

We design to fit your structure and deliver though out Africa.

Mainly used screens in the agricultural sector is the high on demand Union 1812 HFVS (100t/h) and the Union 1212 HFVS (50t/h)

Union 1212 HFVS

With a 4m2 screening surface, you can separate the fines at 50t/h on maize where your maize will fall in a bin under the screen taking it out with a small auger at the back of the machine, and your grain will flow over the screen into your hopper or auger. This unit stands 3.1m high 1.6m wide and 4m long, with a walkway to help make changing of sieves even easier, it can also be made into a mobile unit where there will be a loading auger In front of the machine to load directly on a heavy vehicle. The machine must be powered with a generator.

This unit comes with a 2year warranty (excluding electrical components) to ease your mood.

Union 1812 HFVS

With a 7m2 screening surface, you Kan separate the fines at 100t/h on maize where your maize will fall in a bin under the screen taking it out with a small auger at the back of the machine, and your grain will flow over the screen into your hopper or auger. This unit stands 3.7m high 2.8m wide and 4.5m long, with a walkway to help make changing of sieves even easier, it can also be made into a mobile unit where there will be a loading auger Infront of the machine to load directly on a heavy vehicle. The machine must be powered with a generator.
