Press Release: RADA And AGT Foods Committed to Empowering Schoolgirls in Tshepisong

RADA an NPO based in Johannesburg launched its own range of reusable sanitary pads in August last year. The RADA MiPad project is aimed at empowering woman and more specifically girls, who so often stay at home when they are menstruating because they do not have access to, or in many cases, the means to buy sanitary wear. With RADA MiPad, which has a life span of up to five years RADA hopes to enable girls to attend their classes and complete their schooling with dignity and without having to worry about ‘that time of the month’.

Representatives from RADA and sponsors AGT Foods, an international corporation visited Raymond Mhlaba Secondary School situated on the West Rand (Gauteng, South Africa) earlier in March. One Hundred and Thirty-Five RADA MiPad packs were handed out to the Grade 8 girls. The aim being to not only empower but to also encourage the girls to stay focused, attend class and graduate from school with confidence.

“RADA MiPad could potentially have a lasting impact on the lives of these girls and AGT Foods Africa is proud to support projects like these. We see it as an investment into the youth and the future of South Africa,” says Dean Miller, Corporate Affairs Manager, AGT Foods Africa.

“We are so grateful to have been the beneficiary of this handout, you made our girl learners feel proud of who they are as young woman, letting them know that they matter, and their education is vital”, says Angie Mokiti, Principal or Raymond Mhlaba Secondary School.
