How does it work?
HOCl is a powerful oxidant (800 to 1000 mV) that can kill microbial pathogens immediately upon contact by damaging cell walls or inactivate the pathogen by entering and disrupting proteins, lipids, and DNA. In the last 30 years over three hundred published research articles supporting the use of HOCl have been generated in which the effect of HOCL on nearly every common bacterial pathogen, such as E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, Vibrio, Staphylococcus, MRSA, spore forming bacteria, and many common viruses (including Norovirus) and fungi has been studied. What about regulation? Advanced VITA HOCl has been certified by the SABS under SANS 1853 and 1828 as suitable for use in food processing, the NCRS as a bacterial, fungicidal, Yeasticidal and sporicidal suitable for Industrial, domestic, institutional, food and medical areas, the CSIR as effective against COVID 19 and the Islamic Council of South Africa as Halal. Meat and Processing Plant Sanitation
Advanced VITA HOCl (hypochlorous acid) can be used on meat directly for sanitation at concentrations as high as 60 ppm under Food Contact Notification (FCN) 1811. It is approved by the EPA for use on food contact surfaces at concentrations as high as 200 ppm. It is also approved for use in meat processing water at concentrations up to 5 ppm. HOCl has demonstrated in numerous studies to be highly effective for inactivating E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella enteritidis, and Listeria monocytogenes.

Poultry and Swine Livestock Sanitation

HOCl is also approved for use in poultry processing water and poultry chiller water at concentrations up to 50 ppm and has been approved by the EPA for use on food contact surfaces at concentrations as high as 200 ppm.
